Marketers and agencies are to get together this month for the first ever UK pharma digital media awards ceremony.
The PM Society has shortlisted 24 companies for its Digital Media Awards, who will compete across 13 separate categories.
The event aims to recognise marketing excellence in emerging technologies, and the growing importance of this advertising category in its own right.
The Digital Media Awards is a new event for the PM Society, which already hosts the sector’s Advertising Awards.
Digital media was previously a category in the Advertising Awards – held each year in January – but the sector has now been given its own awards ceremony.
The Advertising Awards recently came out above all other pharma industry awards in an independent survey, with respondents calling the ceremony the ‘must-attend industry event of the year’.
The new Digital Media Awards event acknowledges pharma’s increasing engagement with new media forms, such as online video and social networking.
The event will reward outstanding digital work for its clinical benefit, education, promotion or use of technology. There is also a special award to honour a digital media pioneer – an individual that has led the way in digital media in 2008/9.
The winners will be announced at a black tie awards ceremony in London on the evening of 1 October.
