Mallia Innovations has raised €3m to support the European expansion of its hormone-free hair growth products and prepare for potential entry into markets outside the European Union, including the US.

The funding will primarily support subsidiary Mallia Aesthetics as it increases manufacturing, inventory and commercial activities for its 8T3 Essentials Hair Serum and Lash & Brow Serum.

Hair loss affects millions of people worldwide. Androgenetic alopecia, the most common form, is estimated to affect more than 70% of men and around half of post-menopausal women globally, while millions more live with immune-mediated alopecia areata.

The products are based on MAL-838, a proprietary derivative of the naturally occurring soluble CD83 (sCD83) protein, which is designed to promote hair growth by reducing inflammation and activating hair follicle stem cells.

Manfred Gröppel, Co-founder and Managing Director of Mallia Innovations, said: “We can look back on a successful market launch and positive sales development during the first half year since we launched our products.

“The successful completion of our €3m funding round underscores the confidence both existing and new investors place in our team, technology, and Mallia’s strategic direction.”

He added that the funding would support expansion into additional European markets, strengthen operational infrastructure and ensure product availability.

According to the company, the active ingredient acts locally within the skin without entering the bloodstream, potentially avoiding the systemic side effects associated with some existing treatments.

Mallia said it will also use the funding to prepare regulatory and commercial activities ahead of potential launches beyond Europe as it continues developing therapies for hair loss and wound healing.
