Cizzle Biotechnology expands US rollout of lung cancer blood test

Cizzle Biotechnology has launched the commercial rollout of its CIZ1B Biomarker Blood Test for lung cancer in Texas in the US, marking the first phase of its US commercialisation strategy.
The launch follows validation of the test under Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) accreditation at OmniHealth Diagnostics in Texas and builds on the company’s initial commercial readiness programme. Together, the two metropolitan areas serve a population of more than ten million people.
The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)-based blood test detects the proprietary CIZ1B biomarker, which is associated with early-stage lung cancer. The technology is based on more than 30 years of research originating at the University of York and is currently being evaluated in a clinical study at the Moffitt Cancer Center in the US.
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the US, with many cases diagnosed only after the disease has progressed. Although low-dose CT screening is recommended for high-risk individuals, uptake remains relatively low.
Cizzle said its blood test has been developed to complement existing diagnostic pathways by providing clinicians with an additional biomarker-based tool to support earlier clinical decision-making.
Allan Syms, Executive Chairman of Cizzle Biotechnology, said: “The strategic decision to commence full commercial sales in such a populous area of the USA should provide an excellent base to achieve rapid uptake and serve as a model to increase capacity in other areas of the US, Canada and the Caribbean in the short term.”
The company plans to expand physician access through additional CLIA-certified laboratory partners as part of a broader nationwide rollout.
Under its licensing agreement with Cizzle Biotechnology, the company holds exclusive commercial rights to the CIZ1B Biomarker Blood Test across the US, Canada and the Caribbean, generating royalty-bearing revenues as commercial adoption increases.
