Bioptimus partners with Cancer Research Horizons to expand AI cancer data set

Bioptimus has partnered with Cancer Research Horizons, the innovation arm of Cancer Research UK, to give the AI biotechnology company access to S:CORT, a multimodal colorectal cancer data set containing data from more than 1,750 patients.
The agreement will add the UK data set to STELA (Spatial Tissue Embedding Learning Atlas), Bioptimus’ initiative to develop a clinically linked, multimodal tissue atlas. S:CORT is the first UK cohort to be incorporated into STELA, expanding the initiative’s geographical and clinical data coverage.
S:CORT was assembled from multiple UK patient cohorts and combines up to six types of data for each patient, including imaging, genomic and transcriptomic information alongside longitudinal clinical outcomes. Bioptimus said the data set will be used to evaluate its AI models across clinically relevant tasks during development.

The S:CORT dataset, with its rich combination of imaging, genomic, transcriptomic, and clinical data, is exactly the kind of resource that allows us to rigorously evaluate and continue the development of M-Optimus.”
Joe Day, Senior Business Development Executive for Data & AI at Cancer Research Horizons, said the organisation was committed to increasing access to cancer research data sets that could help improve patient outcomes.
The partnership is Bioptimus’ third since the launch of STELA five months ago. The company aims to profile 100,000 specimens through a global network of research and clinical partners, creating a large-scale multimodal resource for AI model development.
