Cori Clinical has raised US$4m in a seed funding round to expand its AI platform for clinical trial design and bring together clinical, regulatory and operational information in a single workspace.

The round was led by Breega, with participation from Enzo, Heartfelt, Together Ventures and Bynd. The funding will support expansion of the team, including the appointment of Dr Emma Ogburn as Chief Clinical Officer, and further development of the platform’s clinical and regulatory intelligence.

Cori’s platform combines an organisation’s previous clinical trial experience with information from trial registries, regulatory guidance and public sources. It is designed to help teams develop protocols and submission packages while linking study-design decisions with operational plans, budgets and timelines.

The company argues that fragmented trial development processes can result in avoidable protocol amendments and delays. A 2026 study from Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development cited by Cori found that 76% of protocols were amended, with substantial amendments carrying direct costs of around US$141,000 for phase 2 studies and $535,000 for phase 3 studies.

Cori says its platform could reduce average trial set-up costs by at least 33%, based on internal modelling, while an internal evaluation found its AI reviewer identified 82% of protocol errors classified as avoidable. The company has not provided independent validation of these estimates.

The platform is already being used by two of the five largest global clinical research organisations, according to Cori, and has supported trials at Erasmus MC in the Netherlands.

Dr Judith Verhagen-Oldenampsen, Research Coordinator in the Neurosurgery Department at Erasmus MC, said the platform had reduced the time needed to draft a protocol and Investigator Brochure from several months to weeks, while helping the team test trial-design decisions at an earlier stage.

Cori will use the new funding to expand its commercial relationships with pharmaceutical companies and CROs and develop the platform’s regulatory and clinical capabilities.
