Astoriom acquires Sampled’s UK stability storage operations

Astoriom has acquired Roylance Stability Storage and Roylance Scientific, the Glasgow-based UK operations of life sciences stability storage provider Sampled.
The acquisition expands Astoriom’s specialist sample storage and management capabilities in the UK, adding stability storage capacity and expertise. Customers using the Glasgow facility will now have access to Astoriom’s wider storage infrastructure, including its flagship UK facility in Rochdale, which provides continuous monitoring, inventory controls and business continuity systems.
The deal is part of Astoriom’s expansion through acquisitions, supported by private equity investor Limerston Capital. Over the past two years, the company has added businesses covering biorepository services, stability storage, technical services and validation, and business continuity and disaster recovery.
Recent acquisitions include UK-based MTS Cryo Stores and Cool Repair Scientific UK, US-based Flagship Biosciences’ biorepository operations and Precision Stability Storage. Astoriom has also expanded its cryogenic storage facilities in Tramore, Ireland.
Will Edwards, CEO of Astoriom, said the acquisition reflected continued demand for its integrated storage services and would strengthen its UK capabilities.
“Our utmost priority throughout this process is to maintain continuity of service, building upon the strong foundation Sampled has put in place,” he said.
The transaction will allow Sampled to focus on its core activities in biobanking, multiomics and clinical sample management from its US headquarters in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Sampled CEO and Chair John DelliSanti said the Roylance Stability Storage business had supported pharmaceutical customers across the UK for many years and that Astoriom was well positioned to continue providing stability storage services.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
