Private equity firm Apiary Capital has invested in performance-io (PIO), a specialist life sciences performance marketing and SEO agency, to accelerate its international growth and service expansion.
Founded in London in 2018, PIO was the first SEO agency to serve highly regulated pharma and biotech markets. The company helps clients leverage upcoming technologies, especially artificial intelligence (AI), to drive growth and save significant costs.
“This partnership will help us scale a next-generation, AI-enabled, end-to-end content experience platform, one that our clients need to dominate SEO in the age of search generative experiences,” said Matt Lowe, founder and CEO of PIO.
Despite being a relatively young agency, PIO has experienced rapid growth. It has established a strong foothold in the US, particularly along the East Coast, alongside recent expansion into Japan. The company now operates globally with teams in the UK, US, India, Japan and South Africa. Apiary’s investment will support PIO’s expansion of services.
“PIO is perfectly positioned to grow our market offering in line with the demand from our clients, looking to harness new and evolving AI technologies,” said Jason Brown, chief commercial officer of PIO. “We’ve shown how this can drive both efficiency and growth,” he added.
Jess French, director at Apiary, added: “We look forward to supporting PIO in accelerating its ambitious growth plans, particularly as the business expands internationally”
