The ABPI has appointed Lisa Potter as its new head of Media to lead the association’s media function.
Starting on 30 September Potter will report directly to ABPI director of Communications Catherine Meaden, and will advise the senior leadership team on media issues.
Potter has worked in communications and media roles for over eight years and has been working in the health sector since 2009. She currently works for NHS Direct as head of Communications and Insight, leading the organisation’ communications function and running the press office.
Prior to NHS Direct, Lisa worked for the General Teaching Council where she oversaw their media response to the controversial Code of Conduct and Practice for Teachers and their programme of disciplinary hearings.
Along with the addition of Potter to the pharma organisation’s media team, Sean Palmer also joins the ABPI as Media Relations officer. Prior to this he worked for Central and Northwest London NHS Foundation Trust as a communications officer and UK Specialist Hospitals in their communications and marketing function. Palmer has also worked in the healthcare industry in Ireland.
Potter said: ”I am delighted to be joining the ABPI at what is a very significant time for the pharmaceutical industry. A top priority for me will be to work closely with our members to develop a media campaign to enhance the reputation of the pharmaceutical industry.”
