Maprium and The Medicine Access Channel have announced a partnership intended to support earlier patient access to medicines that have received regulatory approval but are not yet routinely reimbursed or widely available.
The collaboration combines The Medicine Access Channel’s funding model with Maprium’s technology platform. This is designed to coordinate access programmes involving pharmaceutical companies, clinicians and distribution partners.
The organisations said their partnership would focus on Early Access Funding Agreements (EAFAs), which are intended to support access to medicines before standard reimbursement arrangements are in place.
Under the model, pharmaceutical companies supply medicines while The Medicine Access Channel coordinates funding and patient access. Maprium’s platform is used to support patient intake, ordering, tracking and reporting while remaining independent from clinical decision-making and logistics.
The companies said the approach aims to reduce organisational and financial barriers that can delay access to new therapies following regulatory approval.
Romina Oxborough, CEO of Maprium, said the partnership was intended to support “scalable, compliant and equitable access to innovative therapies”.
“By combining The Medicine Access Channel’s funding and orchestration capabilities with our platform, we are enabling a truly coordinated ecosystem that accelerates access without compromising independence, transparency or regulatory compliance,” added Oxborough.
Walter Colasante of The Medicine Access Channel said the collaboration aimed to help ensure patients did not face delays in accessing potentially life-changing medicines while reimbursement pathways were still being established.
He continued: “Our mission is to ensure that patients are not left waiting for life-changing treatments. Partnering with Maprium allows us to operationalise that mission at scale, working collaboratively across stakeholders while maintaining our non-profit, patient-first approach.”
