Virgo Health wins Cymbalta account

Virgo Health has been appointed to promote depression brand Cymbalta to healthcare professionals in the UK following a two-way competitive pitch.  

The drug, the latest entrant to the highly competitive antidepressant market, is co-marketed by Boehringer Ingelheim and Lilly UK.

Commenting on the appointment, Dominic Wake, communications manager for Lilly UK, said: "Virgo Health PR presented a strategically insightful and creative plan. Lilly is pleased to broaden its relationship with Virgo, and we are confident that the agency will deliver across Cymbalta, Zyprexa and Strattera. "

Virgo deputy managing director Neil Flash, who will lead the Cymbalta business, said: "Cymbalta is one of the newest additions to the available treatment armoury in depression. As such, we are thrilled to be working in partnership with both companies to help them communicate the importance of the brand to healthcare professionals and their patients."

Voted Specialist Consultancy of the Year at October 2005's PR Week Awards, Virgo currently works with Lilly on the two other products in its neuroscience portfolio, Zyprexa for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and Strattera for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

It also works with Boehringer Ingelheim on the company's hypertension treatment Micardis.
