Panthera has opened a clinical trial clinic at Keele University, expanding its research network to 11 sites across the UK and Europe.
The new facility, based at Keele University Science & Innovation Park in Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, includes both dedicated clinical rooms and laboratory facilities. It is already recruiting participants and is expected to begin running clinical studies shortly.
Panthera recruits patients and delivers clinical trials on behalf of pharmaceutical companies. Its network now comprises seven sites in the UK and four in Hungary, following a recent acquisition.
The company said the Keele site will give people in Staffordshire and the surrounding region greater opportunities to participate in clinical research.
Stuart Young, CEO of Panthera, said: “This new facility will give more people across Staffordshire and the wider region the opportunity to participate in clinical trials and gain early access to innovative treatments for a range of health conditions before they become widely available through the NHS.”
The clinic is located within Innovation Centre 7 at the university’s Science & Innovation Park. Panthera and Keele said the partnership could also create opportunities for clinical research collaborations, student placements and graduate career pathways.
Ann Pittard, Director of Engagement and Partnerships at Keele University, said Panthera’s arrival would strengthen the university’s health and life sciences community.
“Importantly, this partnership will improve access to clinical trials and cutting-edge healthcare research for people across Staffordshire and beyond, while also creating opportunities for our students, graduates and the wider regional community,” she added.
