OPEN Health Communications is to acquire pH Associates, a consultancy specialising in ‘Real World Data’ and market access issues.

The health communications group OPEN Health says the addition will bolster the current market access practices of both Harvey Walsh and Succinct Market Access within the group.

Marlow-based pH was founded in 1999, and has since grown to become leaders in Real World Data (RWD) under the leadership of Kate Peperell and Lesley Howell, who are regarded as thought leaders in the area. Current pharmaceutical clients include Abbott, Janssen Cilag, Novartis and Sanofi. In addition, pH also work with NHS and academic clients, including a number of Medical Royal Colleges.

The pH leadership team will form a new executive board alongside OPEN Health’s David Rowley, Sandy Royden and Roger Selman. The current senior management team and structure will remain unchanged. There will be no changes to existing pH services and all contracts will remain in place.

Market Access strategies for new healthcare innovations have changed dramatically over recent years in response to changes in the NHS and other healthcare systems.  The agencies say there is wide acceptance that data is at the heart of successful market access, and to that end OPEN Health has acquired another leading RWD consultancy,Harvey Walsh.  It says Harvey Walsh’s expertise in healthcare intelligence capabilities and expertise with the UK’s world-leading existing healthcare data will combine well with pH Associates and its consultancy, and expertise in generating data and conversion of data into insights.

Sandy Royden, Founding Partner, OPEN Health: “The pH Associates brand is synonymous with excellence and leadership in the Real World Data and Market Access arena, and we are delighted to have them on board. We see many synergies across both our current market access practices, but also our wider range of services.”

Kate Peperell, Joint Managing Director of pH Associates: “We are very excited to be joining the OPEN Health family. There has been a paradigm shift in the acceptance and demand for data throughout the product lifecycle.  The NHS need data converting to insight and also the practical tools to help drive change. The partnership with OPEN will allow us to continue to meet the ever increasing demand for data and also bring tremendous value to our clients through the wider market access offering. ”

OPEN Health is a joint venture with global communications group Chime Communications PLC.
