Halma has agreed to acquire French diagnostics company Dreampath in a deal that will expand its pathology portfolio and strengthen technologies supporting tissue sample management.

The acquisition includes an initial cash payment of €154m, with additional performance-related payments of up to €121m linked to future milestones.

Dreampath develops automated systems that enable pathology laboratories to track, store and retrieve patient tissue samples throughout the diagnostic process. The technology is designed to improve traceability, reduce the risk of sample misidentification and increase efficiency in laboratories where tissue samples must often be retained for at least ten years.

Accurate management of tissue samples is essential for ensuring reliable diagnoses and supporting long-term patient care.

Marc Ronchetti, Group Chief Executive of Halma, said: “Dreampath is…in a growing area of diagnostics, driven by increasing demand for better healthcare, more testing alongside new treatments and rising rates of chronic disease as populations age. It strengthens our Healthcare Sector by adding complementary capabilities and broadening our portfolio of technologies that support safer, more efficient and effective care.”

Halma said Dreampath would continue operating as a standalone business within its Healthcare Sector under its existing management team.

Pablo Jordan, Chief Executive Officer of Dreampath, said joining Halma would help accelerate the company’s growth while maintaining its focus on improving patient safety through better sample management.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen Halma’s position in healthcare diagnostics as demand grows for automated laboratory technologies that improve efficiency and support increasingly complex diagnostic services.
