Europe’s largest online doctors communities have formed an alliance that could help pharma break through the language barrier to engage more easily in cross-border research.
Led by the United Kingdom’s Doctors.net.uk, Networks in Health’s partners include Germany’s Coliquio and France’s Egora and it has a combined membership of over 600,000 physicians.
Doctors.net.uk has spent the last 12 months forming a series of pacts across Europe and the new alliance binds these ties together to form a ‘network of networks’.
The company said Networks in Health would bring significant benefits for community members as well as for pharma companies wanting to work with them on research projects.
Richard Adams, chief executive of Doctors.net.uk, said: “In recent times, the productivity of traditional sales and marketing channels in reaching physicians has declined and digital alternatives are increasingly being utilised to excellent effect.
“This alliance goes one step further by joining the key networks in Europe and offering those wishing to research or engage physicians with a straightforward solution.”
Networks in Health is supported by medeConnect, Doctors.net.uk’s market research and division, which will offer digitally-based qualitative and quantitative research.
The alliance’s founding members are Doctors.net.uk in the United Kingdom, Egora and La Revue du Praticien in France, Medcenter in Spain and Portugal, Coliquio in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and MedUniverse in Sweden.
