Two of Europe’s leading medical professional communities have signed a strategic alliance that will see them collaborate on multi-market digital engagement programmes.
The UK’s Doctors.net.uk and Germany’s Coliquio will also share content and some resources to strengthen physicians’ experience on their sites and further develop their respective communities.
Doctors.net.uk’s chief executive Richard Adams told the Digital Pharma blog: “There is no plan right now for physician members of one community to have access to the other community, however there is a plan to review how content can be leveraged across the communities.
“While it will require translation and localisation, it will enable faster deployment of valuable resources to benefit the physician experience.”
Doctors.net.uk and Coliquio will also work together to share best practice and determine what works and what doesn’t from market to market, a process Adams said would benefit all their stakeholders.
Martin Drees, founder and chief executive of Coliquio, said: “The alliance with Doctors.net.uk is a big step forward in enabling physicians to exchange professional information and expertise. Operating at a European level gives us the opportunity to create the most comprehensive online collection of professional medical resources and learning materials.
“Both organisations will profit from sharing their knowledge and experiences regarding online physician communities and hence be able to even better serve doctors and clients from the pharmaceutical industry and related sectors in the future.”
Coliquio’s community of German speaking doctors has more than 41,000 members from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Doctors.net.uk has a membership of more than 180,000 registered UK physicians and each week over 50,000 use the service, making it the UK’s biggest doctors’ network. The alliance with Coliquio follows a number of similar deals signed by Doctors.net.uk over the past year.
It tied up a pact with Global Média Santé, owner of French healthcare professional community Egora, in January, and in May last year unveiled a collaboration with Medcenter, the leading online healthcare marketing company in Latin/Central America and Iberia.
Also in May 2010 Doctors.net.uk foothold in the Nordic market by buying a stake in Swedish counterpart MedUniverse.
