Cyllene raises €33m to advance genetic therapy for neuro-urology

Cyllene Therapeutics has raised €33m in Series C financing to support later-stage development of EG110A, an investigational genetic medicine for neurogenic detrusor overactivity (NDO) associated with spinal cord injury.

The financing will also support expansion of the company’s HERMES non-replicating HSV-1 genetic medicine platform into additional neurological conditions.

NDO can cause urinary incontinence and other bladder complications, significantly affecting quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries.

Philippe Chambon, Chief Executive Officer of Cyllene Therapeutics, said: “Early clinical data generated to date with EG110A support our belief that localised, targeted DNA medicines can deliver durable efficacy with a strong safety profile in chronic neurological diseases.”

“This financing will help us move further towards delivering this approach to more patients.”

The company reported encouraging early clinical findings, including sustained reductions in urinary incontinence episodes up to nine months after treatment.

Cyllene plans to begin a phase 2b/3 study in 2027 to further evaluate the therapy’s safety, efficacy and durability, while continuing long-term follow-up in treated patients.

Craig Gordon, Managing Member of GordonMD, said the funding would support expansion of the company’s pipeline into additional neurological indications, including pain and migraine.

The company recently rebranded from EG 427 to Cyllene Therapeutics as it prepares for later-stage clinical development and broader international expansion.

Björn Kuhl, Principal at M Ventures, which was one of two new investors, along with GordonMD Global Investments, said Cyllene Tx exemplified bold, science-driven innovation for high unmet medical need.
