Chandler Chicco named European agency of the year

Chandler Chicco has been named European Healthcare Consultancy of the Year in an annual review of the sector.

The US-based publication The Holmes Report reports on cross-sector corporate communications and PR professionals around the world, and conducts an annual review of European healthcare communications.

This year Chandler Chicco Companies (CCC) was awarded the accolade, and the report identified its strategy of evolving and diversifying its services as exceptional. It says the agency has succeeded in 'moving upstream' and working at more senior levels within client organisations, managing more complex and challenging communications assignments.

Commenting on the award, Chandler Chicco's EU director of operations, Fiona Hall said: "We are delighted to be named as The Holmes Report European Healthcare Consultancy of the Year which is a testament to the passion, commitment, hard work and drive that the CCC team offers to our clients. Through innovation and creativity we aim to continue delivering great work in 2009 and beyond."

The agency currently works on a total of 70 brands from its London and Paris offices and through its growing affiliate network. The company is made up of four individual organisations. The first two are the Chandler Chicco Agency, which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary in the UK and Litmus, established in 2006 and providing medical education services.

Also part of the offering are Biosector 2, which specialises in the biotechnology and specialty pharma sectors and Brandtectonics, a new unit focused on helping clients reinforce the value of their products ensuring the right patients get the right medicines at the right time – one of the most challenging issues facing industry today.

Last year the agency was acquired by US pharma marketing company inVentiv Health, helping extend its reach beyond traditional brand PR. In July Chandler Chicco was ranked no.1 in the PR Week league tables according to revenues from healthcare work from in the previous year.

Accounting restrictions mean that many of healthcare PR's biggest agencies are not listed in the tables, but the annual rankings do provide a good picture of some of the biggest and fastest growing companies.

Chandler Chicco reached the number two slot in the tables in 2007, but strong growth of 47% that year helped it claim the top spot for the first time.

A key move to develop its European business came a year ago when the agency appointed Neil McGregor-Paterson as managing director of CCC's services in the UK and Europe.

Previously head of its London business, McGregor oversees services including policy consultancy, health technology appraisal and market access.
