Aquebogue, New York-based firm Altaire Pharmaceuticals has enacted a voluntary recall of a number of products sold in Walmart and Evergreens in the United States.
The Long Island-based firm has recalled various Equate products including allergy relief solutions, eye drops and gel drops because they may not be sterile.
The recall comes after Altaire raised concerns as to the sufficiency of its Quality Assurance controls over critical systems in their manufacturing facility.
“Administration of a non-sterile product intended to be sterile may result in serious and potentially life-threatening infections or death. To date, Altaire has received no reports of adverse events, nor has Altaire obtained any out of specifications results including sterility testing, for the products,” a statement on the FDA website said.
