Pat Smallcombe appointed chairman of J&J Consumer, EMEA

Johnson & Johnson Consumer has appointed Pat Smallcombe to the position of Company Group Chairman, Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA).

The appointment, effective 1 January 2019, has seen Smallcombe take leadership over J&J’s EMEA Consumer business.

The experienced global leader will be responsible for driving growth and increasing market share for some of J&J’s biggest brands in the EMEA region.

Prior to his role as head of EMEA Smallcombe served as president of J&J Southeast Asia (SEA) during which period he was responsible for J&J’s overall SEA footprint which included responsibility for Janssen, Medical Device, and Consumer businesses.

Smallcombe has also held roles in Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific, EMEA and North America, joining Johnson & Johnson in 2006 as part of the Pfizer Consumer Health (PCH) acquisition.

Smallcombe, who gained his bachelor’s degree  from the University of Cardiff, began his career as a pharmaceutical research scientist. Having originally studied chemistry, Smallcombe went on to pursue a master’s degree in marketing from the University of Southampton. Smallcombe has worked for Pfizer and J&J for the majority of his career.
