The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations has followed up its appointment of Thomas Cueni as Director General by sourcing Dr Fumie Griego for the role of Assistant Director General. Griego will be in charge of strategic planning, policy, and research at association.
Griego joins the association with a varied working history; her role immediately prior to joining the IFPMA was as Head of Global Oncology Policy and Strategy at Merck KGaA, a role she held for a year. Prior to this, she worked at PhRMA as Vice President of International Affairs for five years. She also had experience within the White House, working as a Senior Economist in the Office of Management and Budget – providing advice to both the Bush and Obama regimes on health policy issues.
“I am delighted to count on the support of Fumie Griego, a highly competent professional, whom I have chosen for her strong pharma expertise and background in global affairs, including intellectual property protection, pricing, costs and value issues, and health diplomacy. She will be a strong asset to help IFPMA bring thought leadership in addressing global health challenges”, said Thomas Cueni, Director General.
