Hansa Biopharma appoints Max Sakajja as Vice President, General Manager Europe and International

Hansa Biopharma, a commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company focusing on rare immunological conditions, has announced the appointment of Max Sakkajja as Vice President, General Manager Europe and International.
Sakajja joined Hansa in 2017, and has held multiple senior roles across corporate strategy. He was most recently Vice President International Markets, during which time he led Hansa’s alliances in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, as well as establishing the company’s presence in Australia. Prior to joining Hansa, Sakajja held the role of Global Product and Service Development Manager at Envirotainer.
His other roles include Mergers & Acquisitions Director at Sobi and Founder and Partner at Enzymus.
In his new role, Sakajja will lead Hansa’s Commercial and Medical Affairs organisations, reporting to Maria Törnsén, Chief Operating Officer and US President.
Sakajja’s appointment comes as part of Hansa’s reorganisation of its European and International Commercial and Medical Affairs operations, following a comprehensive review of the European commercial operations over the past months that identified key improvement and investment areas. Hansa is implementing operational adjustments intended to enhance collaboration, simplify decision-making and improve performance in 2026.
“These changes reflect our commitment and focus on the continued growth in Europe and the UK, as well as initiating a more significant change management plan to improve transparency and forecasting,” said Renée Aguiar-Lucander, CEO of Hansa.
