Sanofi boosts emerging markets leadership team

Sanofi-Aventis has bolstered its emerging markets team with the appointment of four senior managers.

They are Patrick Aghanian, Thomas Kelly, Heraldo Marchezini and Jeremy Moulding who have all been promoted from within the company.

Sanofi’s head of Russia Patrick Aghanian will be made head of the Eurasia region, adding responsibility for Ukraine, Belarus and the Central Asia platform based in Kazakhstan.

He joined the company in 2008 as general manager for Russia, having previously worked for its generics arm Sandoz in the country, and before that GlaxoSmithKline and SC Johnson and Son.

Thomas Kelly, Sanofi’s current head of Greater China, has been appointed head of the Asia Region and will assume responsibility for the South East Asian region including Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia,Vietnam and the Philippines.

He began his career in marketing at Johnson & Johnson in China, before moving to Novo Nordisk Biotechnology and then Shanghai Schering-Plough in China.

Sanofi’s head of Brazil Heraldo Marchezini becomes head of the Latin America Region.

He has previously served as Poland, Baltic Region general manager for Aventis and was appointed general manager for Brazil in 2004.

Finally Jeremy Moulding will be Sanofi’s new head of the Japan & Pacific Region. Currently head of Japan, Australia and New Zealand, Jeremy will also take responsibility for Korea.

Jeremy began his career at Sanofi in 1998 and has held marketing and commercial roles in the UK, and later in general management roles in South Africa, Korea and Australia, having previously working at AstraZeneca for five years.

“These appointments reflect the dynamics of our businesses and the opportunities we will continue to seize in those regions in order to reinforce Sanofi-Aventis’ leadership position in the emerging markets,” said Hanspeter Spek, Sanofi’s president of global operations. “The depth of talent, knowledge and experience of the managers we appointed today make them ideally suited to achieve our ambition”.

The new appointees take office on 1 February.
