
Healthcare marketer Renée Mellas re-joins Area 23 as MD

Healthcare and pharma marketing professional Renée Mellas has returned to Area 23, an FCB Health company, as executive vice president and managing director.
Mellas is responsible for the overall growth and strategic guidance of all Area 23 brands and reports directly to Dana Maiman, chief executive of FCB Health.
“Renée has a proven and unrivalled track record of growing and developing healthcare brands and agencies,” says Maiman. “With her drive and passion for the healthcare space and deep understanding of nearly every therapeutic category, we’re happy to have Renee back in the FCB Health family.”
The 22-year industry veteran has launched a number of major pharmaceutical brands, including Merck’s heart drug Zocor (simvastatin), and Novartis’ blockbuster blood pressure treatment Diovan (valsartan).
“I’m very proud to be re-joining Area 23 as it continues to experience such significant growth,” says Mellas. “The trajectory is phenomenal and I’m honoured to be a part of the team again.”
Mellas served as managing director of Area 23 in 2011 before leaving to begin her second start-up agency, Calcium, in 2012, where she served as co-founder and president.
She has also been partner/general manager at Wishbone in New York and an senior VP, management supervisor at Lyon Heart (formerly LLNS).
Mellas began her career in 1992, with Vicom/FCB Health Network working on the Merck and Glaxo Wellcome business.
