Prosensa makes two key appointments

Dutch biopharma firm Prosensa has appointed Willem W. van Weperen as chief commercial officer and Dr Annalisa Jenkins to its supervisory board.

With more than two decades of experience at Genzyme and GSK, and recent leadership of Dutch to-BBB as chief executive, van Weperen takes significant business and commercial knowledge to the firm. 

Hans Schikan the chief executive of Prosensa, says: “We expect Willem to play a critical role at Prosensa as we move from a research and development stage company to a commercial organisation.”

van Weperen adds: “I’m thrilled to be joining Prosensa at such an exciting and pivotal time for the company and look forward to applying my expertise in commercialising rare disease drugs to potentially launching one of the first products to treat DMD.” 

Jenkins joins Prosensa’s supervisory board with more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare sector, with her most recent role being the head of global R&D and executive VP at Merck Serono – a post she has held since October last year.

“I am excited to join Prosensa at such a significant moment in the company’s history and look forward to working alongside a world-class team with exceptional leadership in rare diseases,” says Jenkins.
