A range of innovative digital programmes created by UK pharma companies and agencies were recognised at last night’s PM Society Digital Awards.

Now in their fourth year, the awards continue to expand, with the number of entries rising 30% this year. New categories have been added to reflect the increasingly diverse nature of pharma’s digital projects, ranging from salesforce tools, to apps for mobile devices, film and software to help patient adherence.

A total of 500 guests convened at the black-tie event in The Brewery in central London, with comedian Dominic Holland hosting the awards ceremony.

Manchester-based Creative Lynx have featured prominently in previous years, and maintained their winning streak this year, coming up trumps in five of the 16 award categories.

The agency’s wins included the prestigious Innovation Award, which was presented to Creative Lynx and partners MedNet Consult for their work on a Maintaining Adherence Programme for Janssen’s schizophrenia treatment Xeplion.

Judges remarked on the work: “A top quality campaign that used market-leading digital tools based on true physician and patient need.”

Among the many other categories, Swordfish Advertising won a Craft Award for mobile devices for its work on promoting awareness of growth hormone deficieny (GHD) for Sandoz, which markets Omnitrope as a treatment of the condition.

The judges commented on the ‘Bringing GHD to Life with Augmented Reality’ app: “Elegant use of cutting-edge technology. Drove interaction as part of a broader campaign.”

Meanwhile individuals involved in raising standards and innovating in the digital field were also recognised at the awards.

Hannah Newman of RFA Advertising and Marketing won the Digital Project or Account Management Award, and was praised for her excellent knowledge and execution of projects.

The prestigious Digital Pioneer award went to Jon Vernon, who is currently working as a consultant at GSK in the European Digital Centre of Excellence. He was awarded for his work in integrating digital tools into GSK’s salesforces across Europe.

A specialist in online marketing, Jon is a former chief executive of OnMedica and business development director at Creative Lynx, and won the PM Society’s Geoff Brook Award for Innovation on two occasions for pioneering tablet detailing and comprehensive launch campaigns respectively.

Jon has also had a successful career in pharma, and was responsible for marketing the blockbuster Zoton and launching Zoton Fastab in the UK.
