Tozaro, a UK-based biopharma focused on cell and gene therapy (CGT), has announced the formation of a Technical Advisory Board (TAB) to guide the commercial development of its Smart Polymer platform. The board includes leading experts from across the bioprocessing and CGT sectors, namely Phil Vanek, Carl Schoellhammer, Daniel Smith and Nick Clarkson.
Tozaro’s Smart Polymers are designed to improve key steps in viral vector manufacturing, helping to solve a major challenge in CGT production. Created using machine learning, molecular modelling and advanced chemistry, they can be customised to target specific viruses or cells with different levels of binding strength depending on the use.
“The TAB members bring deep knowledge and experience of the advanced therapy landscape especially around viral vector manufacturing,” said Jason Slingsby, CEO of Tozaro. “We’re focused on improving viral vector purification to reduce complexity and cost in CGT manufacturing.”
The announcement follows Slingsby’s recent appointment as CEO and underscores Tozaro’s commitment to addressing inefficiencies in the CGT supply chain.
“With the right strategy and guidance, we know that Tozaro can help improve viral vector specific reagents,” added Michele Pedrocchi, chair of the board at Tozaro. “We look forward to working with the TAB to help drive our mission forward.”
