2014 will see healthcare businesses and governments rapidly absorb new technologies in order to enhance user experience and foster innovation according to IT experts.

IT and cloud computing specialists e-Zest have been keeping a tab on industry developments to predict technology trends, and after studying the overall market it has concluded that the year 2014 will be a breakthrough year.

It says digital convergence will erode the boundaries as people will expect the same services across the physical and virtual world of business. Some of the key technologies that will help this happen are cloud computing, mobility and big data.

e-Zest says any confusion around cloud computing will get demystified, as this has been the main hindrance to its adoption so far, and that the year 2014 will see its seamless integration within organisations.

Tablets and smart devices will grow in huge numbers to displace paper-based processes, and e-Zest also points out that some healthcare firms have already started using digital prescriptions so others will indeed embrace this trend.

HTML5 is to be the app platform of choice for organisations, as with improved Javascript support from various browsers, this will see more traction in 2014 it adds.

It said in a statement: “Other technologies that will be impacted in 2014 are wearable computing, foldable screens and 3D printing. In our opinion 2014 will be an interesting year to watch from the perspective of technology, as new hardware, operating systems, software and applications will change the way we interact with computing devices.”

The firm predicts that as the year unfolds greater technologies are expected to come to forefront that will attract investment from companies, and will try to change the way we look at IT forever.
