Specialist medicines supplies company IDIS has hired a leading PR agency to help promote its business across Europe.
Ogilvy Healthworld UK will oversee PR efforts to promote awareness of the company, which specialises in providing medicines on a 'named patient' basis to hospitals and pharmacies.
This allows patients to receive a drug which is not yet approved or launched, but is strictly controlled to ensure only specific patients who are in particular need receive the drug.
IDIS supplies customers in over 60 countries worldwide and is able to procure over 20,000 medicines from its extensive database. The company currently sources about 20 new medicines every day and supplies more than 600 different medicines through the named-patient system every month.
Appointed following a competitive pitch, Ogilvy Healthworld UK will help the company develop and launch a communications campaign to promote its business offering.
IDIS says the campaign will help it engage with key audiences and bring named patient programmes to the centre of global market access planning and product life cycle management.
"Supporting patients with unmet medical needs is at the heart of everything we do," said Andrew Moody, marketing director of IDIS.
"Our discussions with Ogilvy Healthworld have shown that they are really in tune with what we are trying to achieve, and can help us to shape current market access strategies and demonstrate how the IDIS service offering can optimise life cycle management."
"We look forward to developing an impactful communications approach with IDIS to increase understanding of the benefits of named patient programmes, and to help address the current market access issues facing the pharmaceutical sector," commented Richard Marks, business unit Head at Ogilvy Healthworld UK and account lead for the IDIS business.
Based in Weybridge in the UK, IDIS employs over 90 people with more than 12 languages spoken.
