Logista Freight has found that Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands account for up to 68% of trade in pharmaceutical products in the EU-27. Furthermore, trade from Ireland to Belgium, from Germany to the Netherlands and from the Netherlands to Germany occupy the highest trade positions.

Logista Freight is a logistics company which specialises in long-haul logistics and services across Europe. The company published a report analysing how and where trade flows in the pharmaceutical sector are moving.

It concluded that the pharma sector’s market moves over three million tonnes annually, amounting to over €250bn.

The report offers in-depth analysis of trade in each country too, including main trading partners, which products are imported and exported, and most frequent modes of transport it uses.

The report is intended to support the knowledge of health industry operators on pharma market trade in Europe.

Álvaro González-Escalada, general manager of Logista Freight, commented: “We want to provide a comprehensive overview of how pharmaceutical trade is moving in Europe and identify the major freight corridors and the trends that will revolutionise the future. Our aim is to offer stakeholders in the industry a useful tool to optimise their strategies in a market that’s as dynamic and complex as this one.”
