Fishawack has acquired fellow medical communications agency Alpha-Plus as it continues its ‘buy and build’ expansion plan.

This has recently seen the Cheshire-based group buy up US agency Nexus as part of a growth strategy to become the leading independent healthcare coms player over the next three years.

Its latest deal brings Alpha-Plus into the fold and will see the High Wycombe, UK-based agency continue as a separate brand with the Fishawack Group.

Fishawack Communications’ managing director Gail Flockhart said: “This deal will provide Fishawack with a second brand in the UK that will help us respond to the increasing regulation within the medical communications sector.

“Our clients want to see separation between promotional and scientific activities and this increases our ability to do this even further.”

Despite operating as a separate brand within the group the businesses said they already share similar delivery processes that will allow them to share resources when appropriate.

Fishawack chief executive Oliver Dennis said the deal would strengthen its offering to clients who want the dedication and personal service that they receive from a small agency, but with the resources of a large agency.

“The Fishawack Group of Companies gives them the best of both worlds, maintaining the small agency approach but with the combined strength and stability of a much larger organisation. We are very excited about Alpha-Plus joining the group.”
