UK based pharmaceutical services business Biotec Services International has launched a dedicated new storage and operational facility along with upgraded and dedicated storage areas for advanced therapeutic medicinal products (ATMPs) and Schedule II to V Controlled Substances. The expansion will result in a 200% increase in temperature controlled storage capacity.

The increase in capacity is as a result of an investment that now enables Biotec to offer GMP storage across a dual site operation with a full temperature range from controlled ambient down to minus196 ˚C. The purpose built split site is fully licensed by the MHRA for investigational, commercial and named patient medicinal products.

Led by Chief Executive Keren Winmill, Biotec was established in 1997 and is now a leading global provider of clinical trial services including import, certification, labelling, assembly, storage and distribution. The company works with a global client base to conduct trials from Phase I to Phase IV.

With turnover on target to reach £12 million by 2015 from c.£9 million in 2011, Biotec has experienced a 353% increase in turnover since 2007 with 89% of current turnover being linked to international trade. Clients range from virtual to blue-chip pharma.

Keren Winmill of Biotec says the company is committed to being a global leader in cold chain pharmaceutical services: “We have ambitious objectives for the next three years which will involve a strategic focus on organic growth and regenerative medicine while ensuring strong branding that gives clear market positioning.”

“The development of our temperature controlled storage facilities is in line with client demand. Be it one-off samples or commercial supplies, we hope that clients will benefit from the new facilities. Of course, we are not only qualified to collect, store and deliver clinical trial and pharmaceutical products we can also handle patient samples.  The dual site storage arrangements give clients the opportunity to minimise risk and allows us to focus on developing both our clinical trial business and commercial/ATMP materials by streamlining processes accordingly.”

Established in 1997, Biotec is a leading UK based Clinical Trials Supply company offering import of supplies into the European Union, qualified person certification and consultancy, labelling and assembly, storage, worldwide distribution and returns and reconciliation.
