Alan Perkins awarded MBE for services to patient care and clinical science

Serac Life Sciences has announced that Alan Perkins, scientific advisor to its subsidiaries Serac Healthcare and Serac Imaging Systems, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours list for 2025.

The recognition celebrates Perkins’ exceptional contributions to patient care and clinical science, particularly in advancing the field of nuclear medicine. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in shaping clinical practice and improving outcomes through research and innovation in medical imaging.

“This recognition is testament to Alan’s tireless efforts and visionary approach to nuclear medicine, where he is widely respected within medical and scientific communities,” said David Hail, chairman of Serac Life Sciences. “His guidance continues to be instrumental in our mission to improve patient care and bring precision medicine to patients through molecular imaging. We are all absolutely delighted for Alan and his family.”

Perkins is emeritus professor of Medical Physics in Radiological Sciences at the University of Nottingham School of Medicine, an honorary fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, and past president of the British Nuclear Medicine Society. He is also a co-inventor of Seracam, Serac Imaging Systems’ hybrid gamma-optical camera.

Seracam is in development to provide portable, high-resolution molecular imaging at patient bedside, aiming to support faster and more informed clinical decisions.

Perkins continues to support innovation in clinical radiopharmaceuticals through his advisory role at Serac Life Sciences.
