ADHD coach John Harrington and breathwork facilitator Martin O’Toole will collaborate on ‘Breathwork for ADHD and Beyond’, a breathwork-orientated session for people with ADHD, and neurodivergent individuals more broadly.
The two-hour session takes place on Sunday 13 April at We The Conscious studio in Hackney Downs, London, UK. In the first hour, Harrington will discuss tools for navigating life with ADHD, seeking to help attendees build their emotional resilience. In the following hour, O’Toole will run an immersive breathwork workshop, intended to relax and enhance the mental clarity of attendees.
It is estimated that 2.6 million people in the UK live with ADHD. Due to long-waiting times for diagnosis, increasing numbers of people with ADHD are seeking medicine-free alternatives, such as breathwork. This coincides with a significant increase in people using breathwork as a tool for nervous system regulation and emotional resilience. Scientific studies show that conscious breathwork is associated with reductions in stress, anxiety and depressive symptoms, meaning it is particularly beneficial for neurodivergent individuals, who disproportionately struggle to regulate their nervous systems.
Harrington is a qualified executive coach and ADHD expert. He runs a specialist neurodivergence coaching company based in Wimpole Street in Marylebone, London. He commented: “This session aims to help you bridge the gap between knowing and doing – and to identify the perfectly human reasons that gap exists in the first place. It’s not about fixing you. It’s about helping you find what balance looks like in a way that actually works for your life.”
O’Toole is a breathwork and psychedelic integration coach, author and podcast host. He said: “Through breathwork, you’ll learn how to consciously work with your autonomic nervous system — shifting from fight-or-flight to rest-and-digest with intention.”
