
Takeda hires head of emerging markets

Giles Platford has been appointed head of commercial operations, emerging markets for Swiss-based pharma firm Takeda.
Reporting to its chief operating officer Christophe Weber, in this role he will be responsible for leading the expansion of Takeda’s commercial activities in the regions comprising Russia-CIS, Latin America, Middle East/Africa and South Asia.
A UK national, Platford has been with the Japan-owned subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceuticals since 2009. Most recently he served as head of the Middle East Turkey Africa (META) region.
Prior to this Platford was general manager of Takeda Brazil where he led the acquisition of Multilab. He previously spent eight years in the pharma industry in Asia-Pacific assuming various business development commercial and general management roles.
