
Sucampo Pharma names new CFO

US firm Sucampo Pharmaceuticals has appointed Andrew Smith from within its ranks to fulfill the role of chief financial officer.
Smith previously served as its vice president of operations and finance and has over 30 years of financial and accounting experience within the pharma, biotech and medical device realms.
He joined Sucampo in 2011 from Retroscreen Virology where he was a finance director and company secretary. Prior to that he had a leading role at Clearlab Europe and held senior financial management positions at Biocompatibles, Hydron (acquired by Biocompatibles) and Allergan.
“Andrew has played an integral role in the financial management of Sucampo since he joined the company in 2011, leading all aspects of financial reporting and participating in the negotiation and execution of license and collaboration agreements,” says Peter Greenleaf, Sucampo’s chief executive.
