The Scottish Lifesciences Association has named Dr Ken Sutherland as its new chair.
Sutherland joins from Toshiba Medical Visualisation Systems and says that the life sciences sector is flourishing in Scotland, which is attracting significant investment and creating high-tech, high value jobs.
Scott Johnstone, chief executive of the SLA, said: “We are delighted that Ken Sutherland has agreed to become the chair of the SLA at a momentous time for Scotland. He will bring a wealth of international experience to bear on growing the life sciences sector here as we move into a future that will need its products more than ever.”
Sutherland adds: “We are seeing the economic benefits of bringing together the NHS and Scottish life sciences companies through a Health Innovation Partnership. This identifies next generation technologies for future healthcare needs, with the NHS acting not only as a potential customer for new products, but also as an expert partner, helping companies to develop and test innovative concepts.”
