German packaging solutions company, Sanner, has announced a significant leadership change as it advances its transformation into a contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) for medical devices and complex pharma drug delivery systems.

Current CEO Johannis Willem van Vliet will step down, having led major strategic moves including the acquisitions of Springboard and Gilero and the launch of new production sites in Bensheim, Germany and Greensboro, US. “Johannis has taken decisive steps to position the Sanner Group as a global medtech and pharma supplier,” said interim CEO Heino Lennartz.

Lennartz, who currently serves as chairman, will assume the interim CEO role until autumn 2025, using his CDMO and pharma expertise to support the transition.

“We are delighted to welcome Verheyden to the Sanner Group as an experienced CEO. His many years of expertise and reputation in the industry will be a great asset to us in both the packaging and CDMO sectors,” Lennartz added.

Founded in 1894, Sanner now supplies products to more than 150 countries, with facilities in Germany, France, Hungary, China and the US.
