Christoph Franz who has been on the board at Roche since 2011 has now been elected as its new chairman.

As reported by Pharmafile last year he is succeeding Franz Humer, who announced that he would not be standing for re-election.

Franz (pictured) said: “I would like to thank the shareholders for their confidence in me. Roche is a great company and I look forward to my role as chairman of the board of directors.”

He added: “In particular, I wish to extend my gratitude to Franz Humer who has made essential contributions to Roche’s successful development during the past 19 years. Under his leadership Roche has become a global leader in pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.”

Outgoing chairman Humer concluded: “The company is very well positioned for the future. I am convinced that Christoph Franz as the new chairman will continue Roche’s success story together with the board and the executive committee.”
