Roche adds two to its board
pharmafile | December 18, 2014 | Appointment | Manufacturing and Production, Medical Communications, Research and Development, Sales and Marketing | Bernard Poussot, Richard Lift, Roche, Sanofi
Roche intends to grow at its March annual general meeting via the election of Bernard Poussot and Richard Lift who are to join the Swiss firm’s board.
Poussot (pictured) is the former chief executive of Wyeth, and keen observers would now note that this news means any chance of him going to the Sanofi top job is now off the cards.
After beginning his career in France Poussot led Wyeth until its acquisition by Pfizer in 2009. Some in the industry considered him a choice fit for Sanofi as it seeks a replacement chief executive, following the French company’s decision to remove Christopher Viehbacher in October.
Roche chairman Christoph Franz says: “I am delighted that we are able to propose two outstanding individuals to be elected as new members of the board who will bring significant experience from their careers in the pharmaceutical industry and in biomedical research, respectively.”
