NuCana appoints chief medical officer

Scottish clinical stage biopharma firm Nucana has appointed Dr Martin Birkhofer as its chief medical officer.

Birkhofer, an oncologist by training, joins the company from inVentiv Health Clinical where he led its global medical and scientific affairs holding the same title.  

Between 1994 and 2013 he served in various leadership roles within research and business development at Bristol-Myers Squibb – including vice president, search, evaluation and diligence, VP oncology global medical affairs, VP product development for Erbitux, executive director of oncology clinical research Europe and executive director clinical pharmacology.
