The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has appointed Simon Denegri as its new national director for public participation and engagement in research.

Denegri will also remain as the chair of INVOLVE, the UK’s national advisory group on public involvement in the NHS, public health and social care research.

The new role will provide strategic direction and leadership to initiatives aimed at encouraging more people to take part in research.

This includes ensuring individuals are given the right opportunities, information and support to approach NHS clinicians and staff about research relevant to their condition, treatment and care.
