Merck Serono appoints head of strategy from Roche

Merck Serono the German biopharma division of Merck has appointed Meeta Gulyani to the position of head of strategy and global franchises.

Gulyani will be based in Boston in the US and is to report to Belén Garijo, Merck Serono’s president and chief executive.

Gulyani joins the firm from Roche where she was most recently the general manager for South Asia: covering India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, and was previously VP of global portfolio management. Prior to joining Roche in 2010 Gulyani spent eight years at Sanofi.

Garijo says: “I am very pleased to have Meeta on board as we are moving into a new phase of Merck Serono’s transformation. Meeta is an accomplished executive with a leadership track record across strategic and operational roles in both mature and emerging markets and will bring the necessary expertise and global perspective required for this important role.”
