Merck KGaA appoints Frederic Wohlwend

Frederic Wohlwend has been promoted to chief information officer at Merck KGaA with effect from 1 April.
He succeeds Kai Beckmann, who will join the company’s executive board and assume responsibility for global human resources.
Wohlwend joined Merck in 2007 and has held the position of senior VP of Information Services for Merck’s Chemicals business sector since October.
During the previous three years, he served as senior VP of information services for Merck’s Pharmaceuticals business sector and he was highly involved in the IT integration activities following the acquisitions of Serono in 2007 and Millipore in 2010.
Wohlwend originally joined Serono in 1991 and held positions of increasing responsibility, lastly as chief information officer.
