LDC, the private equity arm of Lloyds Banking Group, has strengthened its healthcare expertise with the appointment of Amit Thaper as investment director. Based in London, Thaper will focus on identifying new investment opportunities and supporting the growth of healthcare companies in the company’s portfolio.
With nearly 15 years’ experience in private equity, Thaper brings a wealth of healthcare sector knowledge to the role. He began his career as an NHS orthopaedic surgeon before transitioning into investment, most recently serving as managing director at Cairngorm Capital Partners, where he focused on mid-market healthcare businesses.
His appointment follows a influential year for LDC in the healthcare sector, with £100m invested in 2024 alone. Earlier this year, LDC-backed RDi, a leading UK healthcare fulfilment firm, acquired artificial intelligence (AI) healthtech provider Inicio Health.
“Joining LDC at a time of strategic growth in the London market and within healthcare is incredibly exciting,” said Thaper. “This is a sector I’m deeply passionate about, and I’m looking forward to helping ambitious management teams scale their businesses with LDC’s support.”
LDC’s healthcare portfolio spans services, pharma and medtech. Over the last decade, healthcare companies exited by LDC have grown their revenues by an average of 193%, reinforcing the firm’s impact in the sector.
