The Royal Pharmaceutical Society has appointed Helen Gordon chief executive of its new professional leadership body.
The Society is in the midst of a demerger process that will see its regulatory role separated out from the professional leadership body to bring pharmacy into line with other health professions.
Helen will join the Society on 1 July from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, where she is currently chief executive.
RPSGB President, Steve Churton said: “I am delighted to welcome Helen to the Society at this pivotal time in its history. Helen is a highly regarded senior manager who has a clear understanding of the healthcare arena.
“This appointment will bring skills, knowledge and experience to the new Professional Leadership Body and will ensure we deliver exceptional service to members in all areas.”
Prior to leading the RCOG for the past five years, Helen was chief executive of Queen Mary’s Sidcup NHS Trust from 2000-2005.
Before that she held a number of senior clinical and managerial positions within the NHS, including executive director of operations and acting chief executive for a year at Hillingdon Hospital, West London.
