
Gilead appoint Pfizer and AbbVie veteran as VP of governmental affairs

American antiviral drug specialist Gilead have appointed Pfizer and AbbVie veteran Michael Boyd as VP of government affairs and policy strategies.
Having joined the company in October of this year Boyd will oversee government affairs and policy strategies across markets in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Japan.
Having graduated from the American University Washington College of Law in 1991, Boyd began his career working in a legal role at GE. Boyd then took on a brief stint at the US House of Representatives before taking on a role at Pfizer.
During his nine year career at Pfizer, Boyd took on roles of increasing seniority finally becoming Senior Director, Government Relations in 2004.
The experienced lawyer then jumped between prominent firms including Pfizer and AbbVie before founding consultancy firm Hillbrook Strategies LLC.
Gilead has seen high turnover in recent months with its CEO, chairman, chief medical officer, and R&D leaders all leaving the California-based company in the previous year. Boyd will continue to live in Washington DC.
