PR comms firm Luther Pendragon has appointed healthcare veteran Avril Lee to be its director of communications.

Lee spent a decade at Ketchum before departing as chief executive of its UK business earlier this year.

“I am really delighted that Avril is joining us,” said managing director Simon Whale. “She is one of the very best in communications, she has a fantastic track record and she brings a wealth of management experience built up over more than 20 years to Luther’s talented senior team.”

Prior to joining Ketchum in 2003, Lee worked at Chandler Chicco. She will now co-lead on healthcare with Whale at Luther Pendragon, but will also work on other client sectors. The firm’s current clients include pharma and other commercial healthcare companies, trade associations, professional bodies and healthcare regulators.

Lee added: “Luther Pendragon is exactly what I was looking for – it has an incredibly bright, enthusiastic team, a fascinating and exciting range of clients, and a reputation for smart, creative and effective communications.”
