
EMA appoints new head of information and communications technology

Luc Verhelst has been appointed as the new head of the European Medicines Agency’s information and communications technology unit.
Verhelst joins the Agency from a position as chief operations officer at a leading Belgian payment services provider, where he was responsible for IT and business operations.
He has over 20 years of senior management experience in both private and public sector organisations, with a focus on developing corporate IT strategy and delivery of large client-focused systems and projects.
In addition to providing operational and project IT support to staff in the Agency’s London offices, the ICT unit is responsible for implementing the European Union telematics programme.
