Dr Thomas Bieringer to head up Bayer technology centre

Bayer has appointed Dr Thomas Bieringer as managing director of INVITE GmbH, a joint research venture with the Technical University Dortmund.

INVITE was established last year to develop new production concepts for the ‘factory of the future’.

Bieringer succeeds Michael Lorenz who assumes new duties at the industrial operations unit of Bayer MaterialScience.

Bayer and the Technical University Dortmund also participate in F³ Factory research project.

A consortium of 25 partners from industry and academia, the project aims to strengthen the European chemical and pharmaceutical industry’s long-term technological competence and global competitiveness through modular and more efficient and flexible production methods.
