Doctors.net.uk appoints Gareth Thomas

Gareth Thomas has joined UK online medical professional network Doctors.net.uk as international development director.

The newly-created role furthers the company’s growth strategy, which recently saw it take a stake in Swedish counterpart MedUniverse and form a strategic alliance for Latin America and Iberia with online healthcare marketing company Medcenter Holdings.

Reporting to chief executive, Richard Adams, Gareth will be responsible for leading the network’s international expansion, with a target of establishing a foothold in core European pharmaceutical markets by the end of 2010.

Gareth said: “The signals from the European market indicate that there is a huge opportunity to expand the Doctor’s.net.uk business. I am looking forward to joining a dynamic and successful team and to create a new chapter in its success story.” 

He joins the company from joins from pharma knowledge management solution firm Skila, where he was vice president and head of Europe.

Gareth has previously held a number of senior management roles at both CRM companies Cegedim and Dendrite, where he was most recently vice president Northern Europe for Cegedim Dendrite.
